Tell us a little bit about yourself and your professional background.

“I have been working in the finance industry as a Business Intelligence Analyst and Data Scientist, but with no formal background.”

What inspired you to pursue your Master’s in Applied Data Science online from Syracuse University?

“I wanted to improve my Data Science knowledge and skills in order to improve myself and switch careers to another industry. I also wanted to learn more about techniques used in Data Science and how these could be applied to different industries.”

What is your favorite part of the iSchool’s on-campus immersions?

“Working in groups with other students, talking to them and understanding how they approached different problems.”

How have the immersion topics been relevant to your coursework in data science?

“Iteration is always present in data science, especially when it comes to analysis and model building. You always have to try and attack problems from different angles and need to do so constantly.”

In what way do you believe Syracuse University’s Master’s in Applied Data Science will help you to achieve your career goals?

“The knowledge and projects that I’ve acquired and worked on have showed me many other ways in which Data Science can be applied and how different industries use different techniques.”

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your Syracuse University online experience? The most challenging?

“Figuring out how to work with services like IBM Watson and PySpark. They were challenging and learning to use them was rewarding.”
